Explore this topicStart with the buying occasion, selling format and eating experience. A compact mint tin for repeat use, a shareable gummy bag and a giftable coffee candy jar solve different retail needs. Shortlist the category first, then compare the actual SKU, flavour, net weight and pack rather than choosing from a photograph alone.
Swipe the table sideways to compare all columns.
| Candy range | What to compare | What to check in a sample |
|---|---|---|
| Mint candy | Tablet or ball format, mint intensity, portable versus refill presentation. | Cooling sensation, sweetness, surface finish and ease of dispensing from the selected pack. |
| Gummy candy | Shape, flavour mix, surface coating and single-flavour versus assorted packs. | Chew, stickiness, shape definition and whether pieces remain separate in the intended packaging. |
| Coffee candy | Coffee flavour profile, piece format and jar or box presentation. | Aroma, sweetness balance, aftertaste and the consistency of the selected pieces. |
| Milk candy & tablets | Milk flavour profile, tablet or candy format and intended serving presentation. | Texture, milk flavour, breakage and the ingredient and allergen information for that SKU. |
| Tea candy | Tea flavour direction, sweetness balance and how the flavour is described on the pack. | Tea aroma, flavour persistence and any difference between the reference and proposed sample. |
| Crispy candy | Bite, piece size and the protection provided by the proposed packaging. | Crispness, crumbs, breakage and condition after ordinary handling of the sample pack. |
For a mixed range, list the quantity and packaging for each SKU separately. A combined product presentation does not establish a shared minimum order or production schedule. Yunfan reviews the proposed mix with the relevant manufacturing partners. Compare the current product categories, then identify the exact products you want to sample.
Describe the taste you want in terms a sampling team can compare: flavour direction, intensity, sweetness, acidity where relevant, cooling sensation and aftertaste. Add the candy category and texture you expect. A mint brief for a tablet is different from a mint brief for a chewy product, even when the flavour name is the same.
Compare samples under similar conditions and record feedback against each sample code. Photographs help document appearance; they cannot establish taste or texture. If the formula, coating or pack changes, identify what needs another review before approval.
For example: “Mint candy for a portable retail pack. Use our reference sample as the taste benchmark; keep the mint aroma, reduce the perceived sweetness, and propose a suitable piece format. Destination and ingredient restrictions are attached.” This describes a development request, not a confirmed available formula.
Define the product and the package together. A piece needs to suit the eating experience, fit the container opening and leave enough room for practical filling and dispensing. A preferred shape shown in a concept image still needs feasibility review for the selected candy and manufacturing route.
Do not calculate a promised piece count from a product photograph. Net weight divided by average piece weight can help with an early estimate, but actual piece variation, the filling method and the agreed product specification determine the final pack configuration.
Record the candy name or code, flavour, shape, dimensions where relevant, piece-weight target, retail net content, pack reference and approved sample version in one place. This reduces ambiguity when several flavours or pack sizes look similar.
Separate the retail pack, any display or inner box, and the shipping carton. Each layer has a different job: presenting the candy, grouping retail units or protecting the shipment. Review the proposed material and closure for the selected product; a pack shown elsewhere in the catalogue is not automatically interchangeable with every candy.
Swipe the table sideways to compare all columns.
| Packaging layer | Details to confirm |
|---|---|
| Retail jar, tin, bag or wrapped unit | Material, dimensions, fill, closure or seal, label area, print finish, opening experience and any requested tamper evidence. |
| Display or inner box | Units per box, how the packs are held, shelf footprint, opening method and which product details remain visible. |
| Master carton | Units and inner boxes per carton, carton dimensions, gross and net weights, shipping marks and handling requirements. |
| Artwork and coding | Correct dieline, print-ready file version, language, product identity, barcode space and the position of variable batch and date information. |
Approve the candy, physical pack and artwork as a set. Use an actual-size proof to check readability and placement; screen colours alone are not a physical print reference. Confirm who signs off the final file and how later revisions are identified. Where a printed sample or production proof is needed, agree that step before scheduling the order.
Discuss expected storage and transport conditions with the selected manufacturer when reviewing pack protection and shelf-life information. Use the confirmed product-specific storage instructions and shelf life in the final documentation.
Begin with the exact SKU, formula, manufacturing site and destination. Ask for the applicable product specification, ingredient and allergen information, nutrition information where required, storage instructions, shelf-life details and available test or quality documents relevant to that order. Agree the document list early so artwork and shipment planning use the same product information.
Read the holder's legal name, issuing body, validity dates, stated site and scope. The certificates displayed on this page name Shantou Fumeiduo Food Co., Ltd. as holder. Their relevance must be checked against the selected manufacturing partner and product; they do not establish that every SKU meets every destination-market requirement.
View the partner documentsReview the food name, ingredients, allergen declaration, net content, responsible business details, lot identification, date marking and storage information as applicable. Also check the required language, nutrition format and any proposed claims against the destination rules before printing.
The Codex standard for prepackaged food labelling provides a useful general reference. The importing market's current requirements determine the final label review. Have the responsible importer or market reviewer approve the destination version before the artwork is released.
Keep the reviewed label file, formula reference and approved sample version linked. A change of ingredient, pack size or market can require a fresh document and artwork check.
Compare quotations on the same basis. A lower price per jar is difficult to assess if the jar contains less candy, uses a different pack or excludes printing and transport. State the currency, quantity unit and exact specification for every line item, then separate the product price from additional agreed costs.
If Incoterms® rules are used, state the chosen rule, named place or port and edition clearly. Delivery, transport cost and risk should be read against that rule; paying freight to a destination does not by itself establish that risk transfers there. See the ICC explanation of delivery and risk transfer.
Minimum quantities, development feasibility and lead times are confirmed for the selected product and packaging. For a multi-category order, check the arrangements for each manufacturing partner and whether dispatch is separate or consolidated before committing to a launch date.
Use the same product, sample and artwork references throughout the project.
Record the agreed candy, flavour and sample version. Resolve changes before the order specification is finalised.
Match the approved file, pack reference, fill and destination label. Confirm the responsible sign-off.
Review the agreed inspection points, quantities, batch/date coding, carton marks and shipment documents before handover.
